It was at the memorial party for Paul Breedlove. Andrea thought everyone was being a hypocrit. Everyone seemed to be acting as if Breedlove's death was a blessing. They were all glad he was dead. She had been drinking too much and she was getting angry and confused. She had finally stepped up to the podium and spoke into the microphone loudly and angrily at everyone in the room. She was making a scene. Eckhart heard her. He knew he had to stop her. He told Thorne to go get her, but not harm her and to take her to one of the private rooms. Thorne and a second man did as they were told.
Dr Laura Varady had seen them and went up to the two men and told them to be gentle with Andrea as Thorne carried her and the other man made sure that no one got in their way. Varady was angry at the onlookers and merely told them that the show was over.
When they got to one of the rooms, Varady told Thorne to lay Andrea down gently on the couch and then told them to leave. Just then, Eckhart walked in and wanted to know how she was. Varady told him Andrea was fine. She just needed to sleep it off. Varady covered her with a blanket. Eckhart told Varady to leave them alone. He would watch Andrea from here. Varady then told him if she woke up not to yell at her. "Be nice to her." Eckhart pulled up a chair and sat down.
He saw Andrea sleeping soundly. He pushed aside her hair from her face. He took her evening bag and laid it on a nearby table. He pulled up the blanket a little more. She moved several times, but never waking up. Varady came from time to time to check up. She kept telling Eckhart to go get some sleep himself and that she would watch over Andrea. Eckhart insisted on remaining. He needed to talk to Andrea about something serious. Varady told him whatever it was would have to wait. Andrea wasn't in any condition to talk even if she were to wake up now. Varady practically pushed Eckhart out the door and told him to take Thorne with him as well...
