It's a whole new world now for Andrea Eckhart. She has lost the one man she truly loved---Mason Eckhart. But Adam Kane survived the nightmare that would have been and is still going to be: newer mutants. Disease-free. Death free. It's what Eckhart meant when he talked about immortality.
Andrea is not alone. Adam has come to her to continue Eckhart's nightmare. Mutant X never knew why Adam recruited them. But Andrea knew. And so did Mason Eckhart. Andrea was no longer the backup to Gabriel Ashlocke. She was in the forefront now and Adam needed her. She was the only mutant with the four strains of mutant DNA within her. But she was also a different kind of mutant. There was no room for it. No name had ever been found to describe what Andrea could do: see stealth mutants; keep other telepaths from sensing or invading her mind; know what other telekinetics would be hurling at her and hurl the objects the other way before they were even lifted from their respective resting place.
Andrea also had a rare ability: she was a shapeshifter. But this ability was rarely used. Adam had been helping Andrea boost this particular ability. It had been awhile since Andrea used this ability. She thought she had lost it. Adam told her to concentrate and be whatever she wanted to be. But Andrea's shapeshifting ability limited her to become one particular thing: that of an animal.
Blue Rose was a perfect cover for what Adam was doing. Then there was the underground Sanctuary termed Sanctuary II. It was here Andrea came to assist and make sure all was on schedule. Adam had to put on quite an act for Mutant X. Though they were somewhat fractured in terms of their friendship. Mutant X tried to go on without Emma deLauro.
Mutant X's world was about to become darker and grimmer. They could turn to no one---not even Adam. Adam was not to be trusted or believed.
